When work is crazy, you crave periods of slowness, and once you’re in a period of slowness, you crave the crazy. Sound familiar? If so, you’re not alone. Maybe it’s because of how we evolved — must hunt, must gather, must chase. But if you find yourself in one of those slow work periods right now — either from the weird economy or otherwise — I say go ahead and enjoy it. You’re not always going to be here. Your work will surely get hectic again, so relax those knuckles, unclench that jaw, and just be where you are for a little while.
I understand there may be financial stress that comes with slower work periods, and that’s valid, but perhaps you can do both — be active in your search for work and enjoy the additional free time you’ve been given. Plus, you’re probably overdue for some rest and leisure, so you can take this time to fuel up for what’s coming next.
